I camped out last night to see the Live Action panel at D23. After waiting 11+ hours, it was definitely worth the wait. Where do I start? Well, Star Wars had a presence. It was amazing to see Rian Johnson, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and more of the cast interact and they had a fantastic little behind the scenes reel for us to view. I'm starting to think they might not do an official trailer. I think these little sneak peaks are a different and effective way of generating interest without giving anything away.
Marvel had a huge presence. Infinity Wars will be coming out for Disney-Marvel's 10 year anniversary. To date, they've made 16 movies, but Infinity Wars will blow them all out of the water. We got to see a bit of footage and let's just say WOW! I don't get too excited by Marvel usually, but it looks like the best one yet. The cast certainly is the biggest. Avengers, Guardians...A little bit of everything and everyone. Many of the cast were there including Robert Downey Jr., who looks amazing and has a great stage presence, Chris Hemsworth ::swoon::, and seriously, just a whole ton of very talented actors.
Disney live action showed us scenes from Mary Poppins 2 with Emily Blunt, who looks fabulous in the role. The sets are nearly identical to the original and make you feel like you're coming home. Animation will also be included as in the original to keep with the same style. We also saw hints of what's to come for Dumbo, Aladdin (they finally announced actors), A Wrinkle in Time (Oprah, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon--Enough said!), and my personal favorite, the opening scene to the live action Lion King, which was absolutely breathtaking and brought a tear to my eye.
So, was it worth it? Yes. Unfortunately, I had to leave right afterward as my children were sick and we were needed at home, but it was a spectacular event. Now, to recover!
Here are a few pictures from later in day 1 and day 2 (mostly lines since that's all I saw aside from the panel, which we had to seal electronics for):
